Week 2

The C’babies are almost 2 weeks old now. Therefore we made little galleries of each one.

But first, we want to present once more their beautiful and lovely mom, Almundis of Kahnawake calles Nukka.

Here Are Our C’babies!

Yesterday afternoon our litter C was born.

After a quite sleepless night and some stressing labour, Nukka gave birth to her very first baby, and immidiately took good care of him who was very active and loud while searching for the milk bar.

Three siblings followed with little effort within two and a half hours. Then Nukka decided to take a rest. Although everything seemed quite effortless and relaxed, a series of births is quite straining, and the fortunately active pups were claiming mommie’s care quite noisily.

After little more than three hours, the youngest pup was born, a girl and the heaviest baby of this litter.

All five weighed around 500 g (> 1 pound) at birth and they were immidiately searching for the milkbar by themselves, drawing mommie’s attention by singing in different pitches. Nukka apparently feels fine, eating her food with great appetite and drinking well.

We are thankful that Nukka’s litter, too, was born without issues.

C’Babies on the Home Stretch

This morning we went to the vet clinic with Nukka for a final checkup, the second herpes vaccination and had her x-rayed. Nukka stayed most of last weeks with her family and so I was quite unsure about the number and size of her pups. The ultrasonography we did some weeks ago had confirmed her pregnancy and shown at least four fetuses growing in her womb.

Now we know Nukka is expecting five puppies, and with all our hearts we hope that everything will go well.
