CACIB Karlsruhe: Snow Turned Out Best Junior

Last weekend we visited the double CACIB in Karlsruhe. Our temporary base was situated with friends in Pforzheim, where Sammy (Alban Of Kahnawake) and Zelda (Clara Of Kahnawake) live, so we had a great time and I was supported during the show. We had entered Shakaar (Inner Vision Carbon Monoxide), Feli (Felicity Of Kahnawake, last year’s Best Junior) and Ezri (Zaltana Kissed By An Angel In Kahnawake). And we were joined by Snow (Gracia Of Kahnawake) who is co-owned by a nice young family.

On Saturday, Shakaar gained an excellent from judge Kristiina Vaníckova (CZ) in a group of 3 dogs in Open Class, got his 8th CAC(VDH) and his second CAC and was awarded an R-CACIB later. Now he is halfway to gaining a club champion.

Snow messed up her debut. The sensory overload in a huge fair hall gave her the jitters, yet was judged “very good”. Meanwhile, Feli gaited happily around the ring – just a little slow, so that she gained at least an R-CAC. Alas, Ezri did not succeed, despite of her smooth gaiting.

Shakaar: Exc1/3, CAC(VDH), CAC, R-CACIB

Feli: Exc2/2
Ezri: VG3/3

All in all, Kristiina Vanickova did not generoulsly express excellent judgements, and some dogs were even dismissed from the ring.

On Sunday, Shakaar did not satisfy judge Leos Jancik. Out of five dogs entered in Open Class only one was judged excellent, but got no CAC, and Shakaar was at least placed second.

Yet, Snow had a great day in the ring, showing herself so charmingly that she won her class with both CACs and a J-CACIB. Again Feli went second, judged excellent. In the final round, Snow was awarded Best Junior, and so succeeded to Feli who was last year’s Best Junior here.

We are very happy about her success, specifically because Leos Jancik had the dogs gaiting fast for several rounds each time and he was quite severe in hie judging. This year’s CACIB Karlsruhe was no walk in the park vor Nordic breeds, but we left with tons of instructive experiences.

Leos Jancik, Snow and Anne

Even though it was a tough ride, we are very proud of our dogs. Shakaar made a big step towards a Club Championship, and Snow has proven the hopes we put in her. And we will keep on working on showing our dogs.

We had a great time meeting old and new friends, talking and enjoying our time together, seeing lots of beautiful dogs and strolling through the fair.

A very special Thank you! goes to our close friends, the Stegmann family in Pforzheim who welcomed us in their home and provided great support during and outside the show. You are the BEST!
