A year ago, on Thursday, November 24th 2016, I spend hours together with my beloved Kira. The day before, she came into labor. we were sitting on the couch and I comforted her. I kept to the vet’s orders, saying, “Try to do nothing. Just keep calm and be there. She knows what to do.”
And that is exactly what happened. Between midnight and very early morning she gave birth to three gorgeous pups, litle lumps of sweetness of which Kira took care with great love.
Even though three pups make a small litter, we were really hapy. This way we were able to raise our first husky babies with great care and ease and enjoy the time with the little ones.
Antonius (Bubbles), Alban (Sammy) and Almudis (Nukka) enjoyed a happy and wild childhood and had a great in the snow, too. Daddy Doby (Wahttp://Almudisterfall Velnio Malunas) can be proud of those cute little bits of mischief.
All three were adopted by loving sportive families, two didn’t even go far, and one lives in the Black Forest. Bubbles’ adventures, collected by his mommie, make up Bubbles’ Baby Blog (in German).
It was a wonderful time, raising those three little fellows, and we are hoping for a second litter in spring or early summer next year – news will be published in good time.
Princess Nukka (Almudis of Kahnawake – Best Baby in Specialty Sjhow twice!) comes out as best of both worlds. She has the perfect structure, movement and head of her daddy Doby (Waterfall Velnio Malunas) and all the qualities of a lively outdoor dog from her mom Kira (Zausel’s Red Rose). She loves to be outside all the time – even at night!
There is a lot of fun in the whelping box now! When the pups are not sleeping or drinking, they are playing with each other. A little clumsy yet, but happy. Cuddling up in mommy’s fur is getting quite popular as well.
I dedicate this little gallery and the three little videos below to my mother-in-law, who is celebrating her 92nd birthday today. Happy birthday, dear Friedl! I wish you will stay as healthy and awake as you are now for a very long time!
By now each one of our cute little threesome has doubled his birthweight and they are already looking like little dogs. They are also moving around a lot. And since their little faces are getting cuter day by day, here are some new pictures taken today:
Last night our first litter A was born: 2 boys (red/white, copper/white) and a girl (agouti/white). Kira did a tremendous job, as she was relaxed most of the time. That is one reason that there were no problems occuring.
The babies are well nursed and very active. We are very blessed with this wonderful gift! <3
In Doby’s pedigree you can find studs like BIS/MBISS AmCh Coventry’s Lioness Pride, MBIS/MBISS AmGrCh CanCh Coventry’s Peace Negotiator and MBIS/MBISS AmCh CanCh Highlander’s Austin Powers. His sire and dam both are bred by Karen Potts (Jo-Kar Siberians, NC/USA) whose breeding is based mostly on the work of Kathleen Kanzler (Innisfree Kennels)
Many of Kira’s ancestors were bred by breeders who cherish the old foundations lines like Carol Dixon (Troika kennels, TX/USA), Jaana Sudensaaga (Kuuhaukun kennels, Finnland) and Roman Bobits (Celtic Wolves kennels, Austria). The Monadnock roots cannot be ignored in her structure and movements. Sylvia Gusinde is breeding with those lines as well as old working lines; Cwiok’s Call Me the Grinch (br. Denise Cwiok, Howl’n’Wind kennels, WI/USA), Kira’s great-grandfather on mother’s side, sired many litters in Ms Gusinde’s kennels. Kira’s sire, Coe’s Spirit Wolf of Zausel (breeder EvaMarie Coe, Coestars kennels, WI/USA) adds AmCh AmGrCh Odori Yuki Hotaru (breeder Ann Gregory, Snohomish kennels, NC/USA; owner Michelle Bigelow, Aoi Kita Kaze kennels, WI/USA) and the Snohomish-lines to her pedigree.
We are hoping for a colourful bouquet of very promising pups.
